Fundraising is in full swing at Dance Marathon, but we have also heard touching stories about kids and families that were cared for at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. The Pruitt's were one of those families, who shared with us the story of sweet Ellie and her never-ending joy.

Ellie was a spunky 8-year-old girl when she became sick at school. After keeping her home for a few days, her parents noticed she still was not improving. That is when they took Ellie to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta’s Egleston Emergency Department. After a few days of treatment, Ellie went into cardiac arrest that resulted in brain damage. The next few days were uncertain to the Pruitt's, and sadly ended in tragedy as Ellie passed on in late February of 2020.

Amidst these dark times, the community embraced their family, as we wish to do today. When the Pruitt's returned home, they found that Ellie had written her 4 rules in her bedroom:

  1. Have fun

  2. No fighting

  3. No pushing, shoving, or hitting

  4. Always love

So, to honor Ellie, her family, and her 4 rules, I am trying to raise $40 in the next hour. If you feel led to make an impact, as the community did to the Pruitt's in their time of need, I am attaching my fundraising page below.

Each donation of any amount has a lasting impression during a child’s treatment at Children’s! All donations are tax-deductible, and can be made by clicking the link below:

FIRST TIME TEXTING:

Hey (insert donor's name)!

I wanted to let you know that Dance Marathon 2024 is in full swing! I have been united with my peers at KSU standing, dancing, and raising money for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for the past five hours.

We just had the chance to hear from the Pruitt's about their daughter Ellie. When Ellie was 4 she was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis and later went into remission. During this time Ellie was a very spunky and active 8 year old until one day she became sick at school and was brought to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston hospital she went into cardiac arrest. From this Ellie had some brain damage impairing her movement. After 7 days of being in the hospital Ellie passed away in February 2020

When the Pruitts came home, they found that Ellie had written her rules down in her room.

  1. Have fun

  2. No fighting

  3. No pushing, shoving, or hitting

  4. Always love

The Pruitt family and their community live by these rules every day. And to honor her 4 rules, I am challenged to raise $40 in the next hour. If you would like to show support to Ellie and other kiddos at Children's, I would be forever grateful. Donating is quick and easy using my fundraising link below.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

THIRD TIME TEXTING:

Me again! We are well on our way through Dance Marathon here at Miracle at KSU! So far, we have heard stories of bravery from miracle children like Noey, Parker and Libby!

Throughout the day, we have heard powerful stories from kids and families that have been treated at Children's. Just now the Pruitt's shared their moving story about their daughter, sweet Ellie.

In late January of 2020, Ellie suddenly became sick while at school. The following days, the Pruitt's kept her home, hoping she would feel better soon. Unfortunately, Ellie digressed which led their family to rush to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. She went into cardiac arrest, resulting in some brain damage. Seven days later, Ellie sadly passed away.

In this loss, the Pruitt's received immense support from their community. And we hope to do the same. When their family returned home, they found that Ellie had left her rules written in her room:

  1. Have fun

  2. No fighting

  3. No pushing, shoving, or hitting

  4. Always love

So to honor Ellie, her family, and her rules, I am raising $40 in the next hour. I want to continue to show my support for families like the Pruitts, just as the community did during their difficult times. Ellie's story is truly powerful.

If you feel led to make a contribution towards our cause, I am attaching a link to my fundraising page below. Donating is quick and easy, and I would be forever grateful.
